Oxblood: a burgundy digital business card template.

Oxblood is a burgundy digital business card template: a deep oxide red that reads like bound leather, with a warm glow at the top left and your name in a pale rose-white serif. It is as formal as navy without being navy, and it is on Pro.

The design

What it is made of.

Red-brown from #571526 at the top through #340c17 to almost black (#17050a), with a red light (rgba 198, 74, 74) in the top-left corner and a shadow in the lower right. The name is in Iowan Old Style, the serif Ivory Letterpress also uses, so the two read as the light and dark halves of a traditional pair. The ink is a warm off-white (rgb 247, 232, 226).

Who it suits

Who should wear Oxblood.

Lawyers, wine merchants, publishers, luxury real estate agents, private clubs, anyone whose printed card was on heavy stock. It stands out in a room full of navy and black without looking playful.

In poor light

How it reads in a dim room.

The pale ink on deep red measures well above 7:1, and the field is dark enough to keep the screen calm in a dim restaurant or a lit-down drinks event. The QR plate sits on the same dark red, where it is the brightest thing on the screen.

14.5:1text contrast · 7:1 is the bar

Your name and details14.5:1

Measured from the pass's own colors, by the WCAG contrast formula. 21:1 is black on white; the line marks 7:1, the bar for small text. This is a dark card.

  1. Name, in the art
  2. Role and company
  3. QR, opens your page
  4. Links, on the back
Example · Oxblood, labeled
  1. Your name, in the artworkDrawn into the band across the top of the pass. A long name shrinks, then wraps, rather than being cut off.
  2. Your role and companyOne row under the band, in Apple's system font.
  3. Your phone numberTappable on your own phone.
  4. The QR codeOn the white plate Wallet draws at the bottom. It opens your page at cardr.co/yourname.
  5. The back of the passYour page link and every link you added.

No ornament, so the name has the whole band; the warm light sits behind it at the top left.

Questions

Oxblood, answered.

Is Oxblood the same as burgundy or maroon?

Close to both. It is a browner, darker red than burgundy, the color of old leather bindings.

Which font is the name in?

Iowan Old Style, a serif. Your role and number on the pass rows are set by Wallet in Apple's system font.

Is there a light version?

Ivory Letterpress is the light partner: the same serif on warm ivory.
