Obsidian Foil: a black and gold business card template.
Obsidian Foil is a black and gold digital business card template: a near-black pass with large gold-foil initials on the right, your name in a cream serif on the left and warm gold light in two corners. It is the most traditional luxury design in the set, and it is on Pro.

What it is made of.
Black (#0a0a0a to #050505) with a fine grain, warmed by a gold glow in the top right and a bronze one in the lower left. Your initials are set very large in a light serif and filled with a three-stop gold gradient, so it reads as foil rather than as flat yellow. The name is in Iowan Old Style, set a little looser and a weight lighter than the other serif names, in a cream (rgb 248, 239, 211) rather than pure white.

Who should wear Obsidian Foil.
Hospitality, luxury retail, events, property at the top end, anyone whose clients expect a little ceremony. Black and gold is a familiar luxury code, which is the point and also the risk: in a conservative room it can read as loud. Oxblood or Intaglio carry the same formality more quietly.
How it reads in a dim room.
Cream on near-black is among the highest text contrast in the set, far past the 7:1 bar. In a dark venue nearly the whole screen is black, so the white QR plate stands out sharply for the other phone's camera, and your own screen gives off almost no glare.
17.2:1text contrast · 7:1 is the bar
Measured from the pass's own colors, by the WCAG contrast formula. 21:1 is black on white; the line marks 7:1, the bar for small text. This is a dark card.

The foil initials take the right of the band. Add a photo and it is laid over that space instead, with the name and the gold light kept on the left.

Obsidian Foil, answered.
Is the gold on Obsidian Foil real foil?
No, it is a gold gradient drawn on screen. On a phone in Wallet it reads as metallic because the gradient runs from dark bronze to pale gold across the letter.
Which initials go on the card?
Your initials are taken from your name automatically. With a photo uploaded, the photo covers that side of the band.
Is there a black business card template without the gold?
Intaglio is near-black with blue engraving, and Oxford is navy with no ornament. Both keep a dark ground.
