Yes, you can keep a digital business card in Google Wallet, and on Cardr it is free. Cardr issues your card as a Google Wallet pass on any Android phone running Android 9 or later. It sits beside your boarding passes and loyalty cards, it shows your QR code, and it updates itself when you change your details. The people you meet need no app: their phone’s camera opens your page, on Android or iPhone.

Free
The Google Wallet pass is on the free plan. No card details are taken, and it does not expire.
Android 9 or later
With Google Play services, in a country where Google offers Google Wallet.
No app for them
The person you meet scans your code with their camera and saves you to their contacts.
The pass

A real pass, not a photo of a card.

A photo of a paper card in your gallery cannot be scanned into a contact or corrected. A pass issued to Google Wallet can be both.

An Android digital business card is only as good as the place it lives. A screenshot of a QR code sinks under forty other photos by Friday, and a link in your notes is three taps away when someone is holding out their phone. Google Wallet keeps your card a tap away, next to the passes you deliberately kept, and it opens without hunting through apps.

The pass carries your name, your role and company, and the QR code that opens your page at cardr.co/yourname. It comes in your design’s colours. Designs with artwork, such as Intaglio and Aurora, show it as a picture across the top of the pass; those are Pro designs. Oxford, the free design, is a clean flat colour.

Getting one

How to add it to Google Wallet.

Four steps and about a minute, on the Android phone in your hand. The full guide shows each one.

  1. 01

    Make your card

Pick your address at cardr.co, then fill in your name, role, company, number and email. It takes about a minute and costs nothing.

  2. 02

Open it on your Android phone

Sign in on the phone and open the Card tab of your dashboard. Add to Google Wallet sits under On your phone. It is also on your pass page, cardr.co/me/pass, and on the last screen when you finish making a card.

  3. 03

Tap Add to Google Wallet, then Save

Google shows your card with a Save button. Tap it and the card goes into Google Wallet, beside your boarding passes and loyalty cards.

  4. 04

    Show the QR code

Open Google Wallet and tap your card. The person you meet points their camera at the code, on an iPhone or an Android phone, and your page opens.

Android and iPhone

One card, two Wallets.

A digital business card in Google Wallet and one in Apple Wallet are the same card: the same details, the same QR code, the same page behind it. Switch phones and nothing you have handed out changes.

Put it in Google Wallet, free.

About a minute on your Android phone, no card details, and nothing for the people you meet to install.

The people you meet

Nothing to install, on any phone.

The pass is yours. It lives in your Google Wallet and shows your code; the person you meet never gets a pass, on Android or on iPhone. They point their camera at your code and your page opens in their browser, with a button to save you to their contacts.

On the same page they can send their details back, and that is the part a paper card never did: their name and number land in your contact list, where you can note how you met. On Pro, Cardr reminds you to follow up and drafts the message from your note.

If they would rather not scan, send the link instead. cardr.co/yourname opens the same page from a message, an email signature or a QR code you print.

Questions

Google Wallet questions.

Can you put a business card in Google Wallet?

Yes. Google Wallet keeps passes that a business issues to it, and Cardr issues your card as one. Make your card, open it on your Android phone and tap Add to Google Wallet, then Save. The step-by-step guide has each screen.

Is the Google Wallet business card free?

Yes. The Google Wallet pass is on the free plan, with your page at cardr.co/yourname, the QR code, the two-way exchange and your contacts. No card details are taken. Pro adds the follow-up done for you and all 16 designs; it is never needed for the pass.

Which phones can carry it?

An Android phone running Android 9 or later, with Google Play services, in a country where Google offers Google Wallet. Google lists both on its requirements page and its list of countries. On an iPhone the same card goes into Apple Wallet instead.

Does the person I meet need Google Wallet or an app?

No. They never get a pass on any phone. They point their camera at your QR code, your page opens in their browser, and they save you to their contacts. On the same page they can send their details back to you.

Does the pass update when my details change?

Yes. Edit your card once and the Google Wallet pass, your Apple Wallet pass if you have one, and your page all show the new details. The QR code stays the same, so a code you have already shown or printed keeps working.

Can I add it from a computer?

Yes. Sign in on your computer, open the Card tab of your dashboard and choose Add to Google Wallet under On your phone. A code appears: scan it with your Android phone and your card opens there, signed in, ready to save. Or save it to Google Wallet from this computer, with the link under the code: the pass goes to the Google account you choose and appears in Google Wallet on your Android phone signed in to that account.

Does Cardr work with Samsung Wallet?

No. Cardr issues passes for Google Wallet and Apple Wallet only. On a Samsung phone that runs Google Wallet, the Google Wallet pass is the one to use.
