The business card app you do not need to install.
You do not need another app: your card lives in the Wallet app already on your phone, and people you meet scan it with their camera.
Free forever · No card details · About a minute
cardr.co/kai
Wallet is built into your phone, and a signed pass is a format it already reads. So your card needs no app of its own, and nor do the people you meet: they scan your code with their camera.
- Make it
- In your browser, in about a minute. Free, with no card details.
- Carry it
- A signed pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. It opens with no signal.
- Share it
- They scan your QR, save you, and send their details back.
What changes without an app, and what does not.
The honest version, including the two things dedicated apps do that Cardr does not.
| A dedicated card app | Cardr, in your Wallet | |
|---|---|---|
| To get started | Download it from the app store, then make an account | Make your card in the browser, then add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, which is already on the phone |
| When you have no signal | Depends on the app | Your pass opens from Wallet, QR code and all. The person scanning needs signal to open your page |
| The person you meet | Usually scans a QR code or opens a link | Scans your QR with their camera and opens your page on any phone. No app, and they never get a pass |
| Their details | Depends on the app | Come back to you: they can send theirs in the same step |
| When your details change | Edit them in the app | Edit once; your pass and your page update |
| Scanning paper business cards | Many offer it | Not offered |
| Syncing a CRM | Many offer it | No CRM integrations; CSV and vCard export instead |
The middle column describes the category in general, not any one product. Where a named product does something, it is quoted below with its source and date.
Nothing to download.
Free, in about a minute. If you later want an app that scans cards or feeds a CRM, nothing stops you adding one.
What a dedicated app does that Cardr does not.
Scanning paper cards
If people still hand you paper, an app with a scanner turns the card into a contact. Blinq lists a “Universal contact scanner” on Premium, Wave Connect an “AI business card scanner”, and Mobilo a “Paper business card scanner”, all as published on 12 October 2026. Cardr has none. See Cardr vs Blinq, Cardr vs Wave and Cardr vs Mobilo.
Feeding a CRM
If every contact must land in Salesforce or HubSpot, use a product that connects to it. Blinq lists “Native integration with 20+ CRMs”; HiHello connects Salesforce, HubSpot and Dynamics on Business; Mobilo lists “6,000 Integrations through Zapier”. Cardr connects to none, and exports your contacts to CSV or vCard on the free plan instead. See Cardr vs HiHello and every alternative.
What Cardr is for
The message after the meeting. Their details come back to you in the exchange, you keep one sentence about who they are, and Pro reminds you on the day they named and drafts the follow-up from your note.
Card apps, answered.
Do I need an app for a digital business card?
No. A digital business card can live in the Wallet app your phone already has. Cardr issues yours as a signed pass for Apple Wallet on an iPhone and Google Wallet on Android, and you make and edit it in the browser.
What is the best free digital business card app?
It depends on what you want from the free plan. If you want the complete card with no scan cap, no expiry and no card details taken, Cardr’s free plan is that. HiHello’s free plan caps card and badge scanning at five a month, and Blinq lists two free cards, both as published on 12 October 2026. Our price comparison lists every free tier with its source.
Does the person I meet need an app?
No. They point their phone camera at the QR code on your pass, and your page opens in their browser, on an iPhone or an Android phone. They can save you to their contacts and send their details back. They never receive a pass.
Can Cardr scan paper business cards?
No. Cardr has no paper card scanner. Blinq, Wave Connect and Mobilo each list one, as published on 12 October 2026; our comparison pages say which and link the source.
Does it work on Android?
Yes. On an Android phone that runs Google Wallet (Android 9 or later), your card goes into Google Wallet, free, with the same QR code as the Apple Wallet pass. The people you meet can be on any phone.
What does it cost?
The card is free forever. Pro, which drafts your follow-ups and reminds you to send them, is $15 a month, or $12 a month billed annually.
