Copper: a metal-look digital business card template.

Copper is a digital business card template drawn to read as brushed metal: warm bands that run from near-black brown to pale apricot, a bright diagonal sheen, and a cool green bloom in one corner like aged copper. Your name sits in cream type at the lower left. It is on Pro.

The design

What it is made of.

Six stops of copper, from #a55c2c through dark #43200f to a pale highlight (#f0b073) and back down to #24120a, so the band has real light and dark in it. A narrow sheen of pale gold crosses it on a diagonal, which is what reads as brushed rather than painted, and a verdigris tint (a soft green) sits in the lower right. The name is in Helvetica Neue, cream (rgb 255, 244, 236), over a soft dark scrim that keeps it clear of the bright bands.

Who it suits

Who should wear Copper.

Trades and makers (electricians, plumbers, carpenters, brewers), architects, interior designers: people whose work is materials. It is warmer than Titanium and less formal than the engraved designs. If you want the metal look in silver, Titanium and Engine Turn are the cool pair.

Example · Copper in Wallet
In poor light

How it reads in a dim room.

The rows sit on a deep brown and the cream type measures comfortably above 7:1. The bright bands live in the artwork only, behind the name, where the scrim protects it; your number and the QR plate are on the dark brown, so a dim room does not change how they read.

Your name and details12.1:1

Measured from the pass's own colors, by the WCAG contrast formula. 21:1 is black on white; the line marks 7:1, the bar for small text. This is a dark card.

  4. Links, on the back
Example · Copper, labeled
  1. Your name, in the artworkDrawn into the band across the top of the pass. A long name shrinks, then wraps, rather than being cut off.
  2. Your role and companyOne row under the band, in Apple's system font.
  3. Your phone numberTappable on your own phone.
  4. The QR codeOn the white plate Wallet draws at the bottom. It opens your page at cardr.co/yourname.
  5. The back of the passYour page link and every link you added.

The name sits at the lower left over the darkest band; nothing else is printed in the artwork, so the sheen runs the full width.

Questions

Copper, answered.

Is the Copper card made of copper?

No. It is a design for the Apple Wallet pass. For a physical card, Cardr Metal sells engraved aluminum cards with a QR code that opens your live card, UK only for now.

Why is there green in the corner?

It is verdigris, the patina copper takes as it ages. Without it the gradient reads as a new penny rather than as metal.

Does Copper suit a tradesperson?

It is one of the better fits: warm, physical and easy to read on site. The card page it opens can also carry a Book a time or WhatsApp button on Pro.

How do I get Copper on my card?

Make your card free (it starts in Oxford), then start Pro and pick Copper in your card's editor. Pro is $15 a month or $12 a month billed annually, with 7 days free. Your pass redraws itself in Wallet.
