Engine Turn: a silver guilloche business card template.
Engine Turn is a silver guilloche business card template: pale steel cut with dark machined lines, like the lathe pattern on a watch dial, with a rosette on the right and your name in dark type on the left. The pattern is computed from your name, so it is yours alone. It is on Pro.

What it is made of.
A cool gray surface from #e4e7ec to #8e95a1 with a brushed sheen, cut with hundreds of fine dark lines (rgb 38, 44, 56) that sweep across the whole band and gather into a rosette on the right. The lines are darker than the metal around them, which is how real engine turning looks: incised, not printed. The name is in Helvetica Neue, near-black, with a short rule beneath and a small serial in the corner.

Who should wear Engine Turn.
Engineers, product people, watch and car enthusiasts, finance: anyone who likes precision for its own sake. It is the most technical-looking design in the set. If you want the engraving with more warmth, Sovereign is the same technique on cream.
How it reads in a dim room.
Dark type on light gray reads strongly, past 7:1. The gray ground is darker than the white designs, so it glows less in a dim room, though it is still a light card: if you mostly meet people in bars or at evening events, a dark design keeps the screen calmer.
13.2:1text contrast · 7:1 is the bar
Measured from the pass's own colors, by the WCAG contrast formula. 21:1 is black on white; the line marks 7:1, the bar for small text. This is a light card.

Unlike Intaglio and Sovereign, the turned lines run across the whole band, behind the name as well; the surname is set in bold near-black so it stays clear of them.

Engine Turn, answered.
What is guilloche?
A pattern of interlaced curves cut by a machine called a rose engine, used on watch dials, banknotes and certificates because it is hard to copy by hand. Engine Turn draws the same mathematics as vector lines.
Will two people on Engine Turn have the same pattern?
No. The pattern is seeded from the name on the card, and the serial in the corner shows the seed.
Is Engine Turn a metal card?
It is a Wallet pass design. Cardr Metal is the physical engraved card, sold separately in the UK.
