Ivory Letterpress: a letterpress digital business card template.

Ivory Letterpress is a digital business card template in the style of a letterpress card: warm ivory stock with a faint grain and a soft glow from one corner, and your name in a dark brown serif. It is the light half of the traditional pair with Oxblood, and it is on Pro.

The design

What it is made of.

Ivory from #f6f0e6 to #efe6d6, with a warm tan glow (rgba 180, 140, 90) spreading from the top left and a fine paper grain over the whole band. The name is in Iowan Old Style in a brown-black (rgb 26, 20, 13). The pass outside the band is a warm cream (rgb 243, 234, 221), so the whole card feels like one sheet of stock.

Who it suits

Who should wear Ivory Letterpress.

Writers, editors, academics, independent bookshops, wedding and stationery businesses, attorneys who still have their cards letterpressed. It is the closest of the sixteen to a well-made paper card. If you want the paper feel with more ceremony, Sovereign adds an engraving.

In poor light

How it reads in a dim room.

Brown-black on ivory measures 15:1, about twice the 7:1 bar, so the rows read in any light. Like every light design it brightens the screen in a dark room; the warm tone is gentler on the eyes than the white of Classic.

15.3:1text contrast · 7:1 is the bar

Your name and details15.3:1

Measured from the pass's own colors, by the WCAG contrast formula. 21:1 is black on white; the line marks 7:1, the bar for small text. This is a light card.

  2. Role and company
  3. QR, opens your page
  4. Links, on the back
Example · Ivory Letterpress, labeled
  1. Your name, in the artworkDrawn into the band across the top of the pass. A long name shrinks, then wraps, rather than being cut off.
  2. Your role and companyOne row under the band, in Apple's system font.
  3. Your phone numberTappable on your own phone.
  4. The QR codeOn the white plate Wallet draws at the bottom. It opens your page at cardr.co/yourname.
  5. The back of the passYour page link and every link you added.

No mark is printed in the band, so it reads as blank stock with a name on it, which is the letterpress look.

Questions

Ivory Letterpress, answered.

Is it real letterpress?

No. Letterpress presses ink into paper; this is a screen design that borrows the stock, the grain and the serif. It looks like that kind of card, on a phone.

Which serif does it use?

Iowan Old Style for your name. Wallet sets the rows below in Apple's system font.

What is the dark version?

Oxblood: the same serif on deep oxide red.
